To Concerned Bluefield Neighbors

Many of you received a typed "newsletter" in the mail on Wednesday October 1st sent by a BHA board member. At our September 16 meeting, it was agreed that a board member would take on the responsibility of printing the E news from the website and distributing a paper copy to some of the neighbors who do not use email and internet. Today's copy was not approved by the BHA board before being mailed out to our residents. The BHA Board's intention was to extract items specifically posted on the website and put into a hard copy for those neighbors without internet access. It was NOT the BHA Boards intention for this information to be altered, editorialized, or anything else added without the Boards approval. There were a few inaccuracies.

Peter Beare is our current BHA Vice-President. At the September 16 BHA meeting, he expressed that he would not be returning as VP candidate for the 2015 year. He did not resign as stated in the newsletter.

The newsletter submitted stated: "In March, some member(s) of the Board voted to only use the new www.historicbluefields.com website...". I feel this is a misleading statement. The board, with a majority vote, approved this (not "some"). The BHA board voted this way to alleviate the very labor intensive and expensive manner of which it has been done in the past. A hard copy of the membership form has been available all year on the website allowing people to print the application and send via mail as in the past (under community menu option).

Additionally, there was a request to mail BHA dues directly to the author of the newsletter (and not our appointed Treasurer). This was not discussed with the BHA Board, nor was it approved. For those of you who have mailed your dues, we will make sure that you are properly credited. For the neighbors who have not mailed them, please send them to Glenda Reagan. She will be fulfilling her duties as Treasurer of BHA for the duration of her term. In the event there is a change, we will notify all neighbors accordingly. The BHA Board apologizes for the conflicting instructions.

Also, the copy of the anonymous letter provided with the newsletter, that was apparently received by a few select neighbors, was never brought to the attention of the BHA Board and is not associated with the BHA Board in any way. Our next BHA meeting is Monday, November 18 at 6:00 PM at Fifty Forward. Please make arrangements to join us as 2015 BHA Board and Officers will be elected at this meeting. If anyone has any interest of being an officer or board member and supporting our neighborhood, feel free to contact me.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful fall. It is a beautiful time of year in Bluefields. We have the Historic Bluefields Smarthgrowth Committee continuing to beautify Bluefield Avenue common areas this Saturday morning and we also have a Community Police Survey for residents to fill out and share security concerns with our local precinct so please be sure to participate.
