2014 Great American Cleanup comes to Bluefields!
Keep America Beautiful's Great American Cleanup, the nation's largest community improvement program, takes place annually from March 1 through May 31, involving an estimated 3 million volunteers and attendees. To get into the spirit of this effort Historic Bluefields will be joining forces with "Clean Up Donelson Day" and we will be setting up 2 primary stations in Bluefields to clean up on Saturday March 22nd from 9:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m..
Thanks for those that attended and in particular Maggie Sidelinger for organizing this event - here is some pics from a "Cleaner Bluefields"!
We currently have 2 teams organized to start with but can add as many teams as volunteer in this clean up effort.
- Station 1 - Donelson Pike / Bluefield Avenue Entrance - Maggie's Team.
- Station 2 - Lebanon Road / Bluefield Avenue Entrance - Peter's Team.
If any Bluefield's residents want to setup another station in your immediate home area let us know and we willl add it to our list - contact us here...
Here is some pics to get you motivated!
Naomi from Metro Beatification and the Gateway project is going to get us 14 tshirts and pairs of work gloves and a box of trash bags. David Sidelinger will have a truck to carry the bags of trash to Omohundro (and Peter has a truck available if a second truck is needed).
Additional tools that would be handy include rakes and weed eaters. (in particular at Lebanon Road - Bluefield Avenue entrance area.)
Please come on out and lets get Historic Blufields looking clean and green this Saturday March 22nd from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m...
