Flood Crest Seen Today in County

RED CROSS READY BUT LITTLE HARM REPORTED SO FAR

Water choking the Cumberland River to a depth of 41 feet in Nashville was expected to recede today (Thursday), thus limiting flood damage to that already caused by the heavy rains last week and early this week....

The Cumberland was in its banks in most places but small streams, swollen by water backing up, caused minor flooding in the Pennington Bend bottoms. Camps and homes along the bank of the river are threatened but not flooded as yet. The Williamson Ferry, which ceased operation Sunday, is tied up to the Donelson bank.

The Stone's River became visible at several points along Lebanon Road as it began climbing from its banks. Some land in the Clover Bottom bend was covered with water and flooding was reported in other sections up-stream....
