  • Mr. and Mrs. Edward G. Hagar, of Los Angeles, California, arrived Thursday for a month's visit with her mother, Mrs. James W. Allen, and Mr. Allen on Old Lebanon Road.
  • Margaret Ann Adsmond left Saturday for Knoxville to enter the University of Tennessee where she will be a sophomore this season. Bill Adsmond left Sunday for Martin to attend the University of Tennessee Junior College, also as a sophomore.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Harold Phillips and son, Harold, Jr., have moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he is enrolled as a student at the University of Alabama. Mrs. Phillips is the former Miss Dorothy Nunley.
  • Walton Hessey, Marve Dodson, and George Jackson returned recently from a week's fishing trip to Reelfoot Lake. Except for the war years, these "buddies" have had an annual fishing and camping trip together for the past 15 years.
  • Miss Norma Jean Gotto entertained the Claridge-Wilkerson bridal party at a breakfast Sunday morning at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Gotto, on Fairway Drive. Assisting in the hospitality were Mrs. Gotto, Mrs. Lloyd Butts, and Miss Louise Wilhoite, of Miami, Florida.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Fred Perkerson, of Nashville, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Niederhauser and children, Ernestine and Bobby, spent the weekend at the Niederhauser camp, "Reno Falls," at Rock Island.

Donald Merry Host in Birthday Party

Donald Merry, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Merry, on Cumberland Circle, was honored at a birthday party Saturday afternoon on his seventh birthday. Present were Frater Davis, Billy Creager, Beachie Ward, Bobby Earheart, Fred Tarpley, David Pierce, and Robert Merry. The group later attended the movie at Donelson.

Hardy, gave a social recently in honor of Charles Anderson, Phillip Farris, and Billy Nichol, who are returning to college this fall. Mrs. Pierce Hostess in Bridge Luncheon

Mrs. Gordon Pierce was hostess Saturday at a bridge luncheon at her home on Cumberland Circle, honoring Mrs. Jack Woods. Guests were Mrs. George Brandon, Mrs. George Davis, Mrs. R. R. McInnis, Mrs. F. E. Oliver, Mrs. Joe Stone, and Mrs. John Booth. Mr. and Mrs. Woods plan to make their home in Boston where he is being transferred.

Mrs. Barnett Will Be Honored in Shower

Mrs. Gordon Pierce and Mrs. Harry Ward will be hostesses at a shower this afternoon at 3 o'clock, honoring Mrs. George Barnett, at the Ward home on Cumberland Circle. Yellow and white chrysanthemums decorating the rooms will carry out the color scheme. Refreshments will be served informally to the 25 guests.

Attend Wisconsin Fair

Andrew Henderson and Jerry Treis flew to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Wednesday to attend the horse show at the Wisconsin State Fair. Mr. Henderson will assist Mr. Treis' daughter in showing their horses. He will regturn by plane October 7 for his sister's wedding.

  • Well, it seems that the fall rains have started. However, the country was getting dry and the rain was needed of Battie Goodman, who passed away last week. This community sympathizes with the family.
  • Marie Bright had the misfortune to lose her pocketbook, containing her glasses, at the State Fair Friday night.
  • James B. Bright is holding a revival meeting at Cedar Hill Church of Christ, located at Cedar Hill Church of Christ, located about 40 miles from Nashville, and would be glad to see any of his friends in the congregation.
  • Mrs. Wayne Wright and children, Brent and James, and Mrs. Cora Wright went to the State Fair Friday.
  • Douglas Bright and James William Robertson, both employed in Nashville, are attending Watkins Institute at night.
  • Miss Joyce Hamblin was lucky enough at the State Fair to win a pair of nylons.
  • Miss Eleanor Burnett has resigned as teacher at Mt. Juliet and will soon take up a new position.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Baggerly have stopped construction of their new home due to the shortage of nails.
  • New Swann, who has been ill for several weeks, is recovering slowly and the community is pulling for him to soon be out again.

  • Mrs. Wallace Gleaves left Tuesday by plane for New York to attend the wedding of her niece, Miss Louise Kroner, a Donelson visitor the past summer.
  • The Elm Hill community is glad to welcome as new residents Mr. and Mrs. V. B. Hooper and children, Anna, Joan and George, to its midst. The Hoopers are from Culver City, California, and are hosts to Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Hooper, his parents, and Mr. and Mrs. Carter, relatives.
