  • Mr. and Mrs. John W. Duke will leave November 30 for their vacation, spending the first week at Hotel Piccadilly in New York City and the second week at the Flanders, in Atlantic City.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Joe Evans, of Arlington Avenue, will leave this week for New Orleans where they will visit before moving to their home in Decatur, Alabama.
  • Mrs. M. K. Nicholson, of Murfreesboro Road, had a dinner party recently for a few friends. Mrs. Fanny Slemming, Miss Susie Mitchell, Mrs. Loula Mai Smith, Mrs. Louise Graham, Mrs. A. S. McMahon and Mrs. A. E. McLaughlin were guests.
  • Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Bradford, of Duke's Apartments, have a new son named Michael.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Roy Perry, of Duke's Apartments, are the parents of a new baby boy.
  • Vernon Heard, who has been a guest at the W. H. Scott home will leave this weekend for Big Springs, Texas, where he will visit relatives before returning to his base in Iceland.

  • Misses Laura Ellen Chastain and Ruby Mai Watkins, who are attending Murfreesboro State Teachers College, visited their parents last weekend.
  • Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Force have moved into their new home.
  • Mrs. Raymond Eakes is now employed at Life and Casualty Insurance Company.
  • Mrs. Bedford Eakes, Mrs. Robert Benson and Mrs. Bill Griffin entertained with a miscellaneous shower Saturday night at the Hamilton Hill Club House complimenting Mrs. Raymond Eakes, the former Miss Carmene Hight. Games and contests offered the diversions and refreshments were served informally. Those present included Mrs. J. G. Hight, Mrs. Clarence Tayes, Mrs. Horace Garrett, Mrs. Ed Jenkins, Mrs. LeRoy Martin and daughter Elaine, Mrs. Floyd Smartt and daughter, Annice, Mrs, Pauline Eakes, Mrs. Steve Hunt, Mrs. Pride Wills, Ann and Jamie Griffin, Mrs. Edith Fields, Mrs. Jim Haralson, Miss Hermene Eakes, Miss Vallice Hight, Mrs. Gladys Nokes, Leona Hackney, Martha Owen Benson, Mrs. Alma Eakes and Mrs. Beulah Smithson. The honoree received many lovely gifts.

  • John Bailey Steele suffered a broken collar bone playing ball last week. He is progressing nicely.

  • Morgan Hurt is in St. Thomas Hospital having an eye operation which is the result of getting a piece of steel in his eye while working on his farm.
  • Mrs. D. W. Cantrell entertained with a picnic supper at her new log cabin, "Eversong," on Stone's River.
  • Honoring Gilbert Merritt, Mrs. Merritt and Buddy gave a suprise birthday dinner in his honor Monday night at their home, "Oakwood."
  • Miss Evelyn Jones, of Bluefields, will be the guest of Buddy Merritt at the Tennessee-Vanderbilt football game Saturday.
  • Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Redelsheimer have returned from a fishing trip to Gulfport, Mississippi, and New Orleans.
  • Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Williams, former Donelson residents, entertained at a dessert bridge Friday evening at 7 o'clock at their home on Woodmont Boulevard. Guests from Donelson included Mr. and Mrs. Walker Smith, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Goodpasture, Mrs. Margaret Lassing.
